Why We Love 5-Minute Stories (and you will too!)

It’s that time again – bedtime.

The day is coming to a close and everyone is tired.

Except your child. Who seems to be wide awake and ready to party.

“Just ONE more story! Pllllleeeease, mommy!”

So, you give it some thought and say, “ok, sure.”

Reading is a great way to end the day with your child and you want to foster that curiosity.

Choosing the right book is a big part of the equation, and 5-minute stories are the perfect solution to the bedtime book dilemma.

I first discovered these books a few years ago when my daughter was in her Peppa Pig everything phase….and I mean, everything!

She saw this book on the shelf at Target and we just had to bring it home. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the stories didn’t stink and that there were lots more versions available!

It’s always fun to have an adventure with your child’s favorite character! I have picked up our copies of these books during phases when my daughter was really into whatever character at the time. Whether Disney princesses, Peppa, or Pixar, there’s a 5-minute storybook for every kid.

Each chapter is a complete story that really does take just 5 minutes to read so you won’t feel bad about saying “yes” to one more story! Saving times doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice quality. There is also a handy table of contents so you can quickly find your favorite story.

They also make great gifts! I love giving books at birthdays and Christmas because it’s something my kids and I can share together that won’t end up at the bottom of the toy bin a few weeks later. With the numerous character options, you can find something most kids ages 3-8 will love!

Because these books contain multiple stories in one, they provide amazing value. Picture books aren’t cheap, but with these you get the equivalent of several books at a comparable cost to most stand-alone picture books. Yay, for budget books!

Since these books are hardcover and large in size, they are tougher to destroy! I can read these books with my 4-year and 8-month old and not worry about the book being ruined which is a huge win for me.

The illustrations are bright and I find the stories engaging without being too cheesy. It’s also nice as the mom to have some options – if one of the stories is getting a little old, we can switch to another one without much fuss 😉
